This project is open to Georgia-barred attorneys who are experienced with adoptions. Volunteers must have previously completed at least three Georgia adoption cases as lead counsel prior to volunteering with this project.

Volunteer attorneys represent nonparent relatives in the adoption of children who have been in the relative's care long-term. Clients are commonly grandparents, but may be other relatives or fictive kin. These are typically not contested cases. ALAS provides volunteer attorneys with form pleadings, and ongoing support from our in-house adoption attorneys.
