Pro Bono Awards Breakfast

This October we celebrated our incredible volunteers at our annual Pro Bono Awards Breakfast. In addition to our special awards, we honored all of our volunteers who have taken three cases with us in the past year or who have volunteered over 50 hours of their time to Legal Aid. Thank you all for everything that you do for our clients! Your commitment to them means everything to us.

This year we had 6 fantastic events included in our Summer Associate Pro Bono Series: The 7th Annual Beer Tasting & BBQ Battle, Grace UMC Women's Legal Pop-up Clinic, The Pro Bono Roadshow, Estate Planning for Low Income Clients, Representing Clients at Protective Order Hearings, and Diversity & Inclusion in the Law.
Nelson Mullins Pro Bono Guardianship Case Chosen for 2019 Georgia Needs Lawyers Campaign

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP is pleased to announce that the State Bar of Georgia has selected the guardianship story of Patricia and Dickey Jones and their son Anthony to be showcased this year in the Bar’s public service awareness campaign, Georgia Needs Lawyers. The campaign features client stories in which lawyers made a positive difference in people’s lives.

Fulton County Tax Appeal Project

In 2018, Fulton County taxpayers faced unprecedented increases in their property tax assessments as Fulton County conducted a county-wide reassessment for the first time since 2012. Rather than getting smaller, more incremental changes in those intervening years, Fulton taxpayers were going to be suddenly hit with the full force of property value increases that had happened during the recovery after the real estate market burst.
