The Clayton Pro Bono Project refers low income clients who cannot afford private representation to volunteer attorneys. Cases are screened thoroughly by Clayton Legal Aid attorneys. All cases are in Clayton County and must fall within the case priority and financial eligibility guidelines set by Legal Aid. Your skills and expertise can make a real and immediate impact on their lives.
Among one of the most impoverished counties in the metro area, the need for civil legal services in Clayton County is overwhelming. Having limited resources means up to 80% of clients coming to Clayton Legal Aid are given advice on proceeding pro se with their legal matters. Volunteers are needed to assist with family law, landlord tenant, consumer law and estate planning matters. We gladly support our volunteers with training, forms and resources.

Pam Hampton, Clayton County Pro Bono Coordinator
Pamela Hampton is the coordinator for the Clayton County Pro Bono Project. She has been with the project for 18 years. Pam is dedicated to the project and works with volunteer attorneys to ensure low income eligible clients have equal access to the legal system. Also, she is a long time resident of Clayton County.

Kimberly Charles, Managing Attorney Clayton Legal Aid
Kimberly Charles is the managing attorney of Legal Aid Atlanta’s Clayton and South Fulton Counties office. Serving in this role since 2014, she leads an office of six attorneys, a pro bono director and three support staff. Ms. Charles practice areas include eviction defense with a specialty in subsidized housing, public benefits law with a special expertise in unemployment benefits, consumer law and some domestic relations law, with an emphasis on representing victims of domestic violence.

Clayton Housing Legal Resource Center
The Clayton County Eviction Defense Project, located in the Harold R. Banke Justice Center, helps establish housing stability, a basic and critical client need. We hold an informational session in courtroom 204 every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. for landlords and tenants.
Clayton Family Advocacy Office
The Clayton Family Advocacy Office, located in the Harold R. Banke Justice Center, provides advice and representation to victims of domestic violence and stalking as they seek Temporary Protective Orders (TPOs). Contact Sarah White by email or phone, 678-702-8418.
