Education Advocacy for Children with Special Needs

Topics:
  • Health Law Partnership
  • Education Law

The Health Law Partnership (“HeLP”), an interdisciplinary community collaboration of Georgia State University, Atlanta Legal Aid , and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and the Disability Integration Project at Atlanta Legal Aid to improve the health and well-being of low-income children and their families, are sponsoring the Education Advocacy for Children with Special Needs Project.  The goal of the Education Advocacy for Children with Special Needs Project is to train lawyers interested in special education advocacy to take on these cases as part of their pro bono practice.  This practical training will present the nuts and bolts of special education law and provide a step-by-step reference guide to equip all attorneys with the information needed to advocate for students with special needs.  Ongoing support, including case consultation, will be provided by Atlanta Legal Aid’s Disability Integration Project.
